Sourcing & Procurement for Kiln Restoration Project (2019)

In 2019, I partnered with a service contractor bidding on a public contract to restore three industrial kilns for a state-owned company. The project required high-spec materials—refractory bricks, metal anchors, and castables—which represented the bulk of the cost structure. To improve pricing competitiveness and secure the contract, the contractor engaged me to source and manage the procurement of all required materials from China.

I led the complete sourcing lifecycle from end to end. This included identifying qualified manufacturers, conducting technical verification of refractory specifications, negotiating pricing and terms, and coordinating export documentation and logistics. My involvement extended throughout the execution phase, ensuring that each purchase met the performance and compliance requirements of the client’s industrial restoration plan.

Over the course of one year, I supported the contractor in executing three separate procurement cycles and international shipments. The materials were sourced on time, within budget, and with quality standards aligned to the project’s engineering specifications. This strategic sourcing effort contributed to the contractor’s ability to deliver the kiln restoration successfully while maintaining a competitive cost structure.
